Things can never be the same again, and we must learn to tune ourselves to the new rhythm, so that we may live in harmony with ourselves, and so living, live in harmony with others.

Contemplations on the Quote

Indeed things can never be the same again, especially when something dramatic happens in ones life. It could be a new realization and insight about the intricate ways of life or it could be some life-event that shakes you to your foundations. Life and nature is always changing, something we discussed when going through Heraclitus’ idea of the constancy of change.

I think one of the main obstacles to people living harmoniously and joyously is the perpetual fretting about either the past or the future. All the while the music and the new rhythm plays in the immediacy of each new moment.

Sean O’Casey realized the changeful nature of life as a human being, he also realized how we can long for things to be different to what they currently might be. The wisdom in his words lies in the accepting of the new tune of life, so that we can fully come to appreciate it and harmonize ourselves with everything around us.
